Mbale Gerop Ministries International is a Christ-centered, legally registered NGO in Mbale, Eastern Uganda, founded in 2014. “Gerop” means restoration in Lumasaba, reflecting our mandate to restore dignity, families, opportunity, and hope for vulnerable people in the Elgon sub-region. We began in 2013 in Namatala Slum when our founder, a former street child and pastor, helped three orphaned siblings. Now we reach 11 sub-counties across Mbale, Sironko, and Manafwa, serving 3,800+ people annually. Our mission is to empower vulnerable children and families through education, health, economic empowerment, and discipleship. Guided by compassion, integrity, dignity, local ownership, sustainability, and family preservation, we build community-led solutions for lasting transformation.

About Us

What We Do:

Our Four Pillars of Transformation.

We transform lives in Eastern Uganda through four key pillars.

1. Child Welfare & Education: We sponsor 420 orphans with school fees and meals, run 7 Gerop Learning Hubs for 600+ children, and support girls with sanitary pads and clubs, cutting teen pregnancy by 38%. We’ve resettled 173 street-connected children since 2018.

2. Economic Empowerment: We run 46 Village Savings & Loan Associations for 1,150 members, train 800+ youth in skills, and promote climate-smart farming. Our Gerop Farm supports training and funds 30% of admin costs.

3. Health, Water & Sanitation: We’ve built 108 latrines and 14 springs for 9,000+ people, hold quarterly medical camps, and train 300 Health Champions.

4. Spiritual & Psychosocial Care: Through 22 counselors and 54 churches, we provide counseling, discipleship, and peace-building, reconciling 210 families since 2021.

about

Our Impact since 2014

We currently sponsor 420 children, with 97 graduates now in training, university, or employed. 1,150 adults in VSLAs report 83% income growth, and 9,000+ people access clean water and sanitation. We’ve reunited 173 street children with families and run 6 acres of farmland. Our “Community-Led, Church-Based, Evidence-Driven” model listens, partners locally, empowers families, measures results, and exits after 3-5 years. Led by 14 Ugandan staff and 60 volunteers, we’re overseen by a 7-member board and audited annually. By 2030, we aim to sponsor 1,000 children, expand Gerop Farm, end child marriage in 20 schools, launch digital literacy for 500 youth, and train 15 disaster response teams.
